The best way to honor the past, and all of the friends we lost, musicians, artists, and beautiful bright light souls that we could really use right now... is to keep moving forward with purpose and intensity on 11 just like we did back then, to this day, nothing here is holding back!
When I recorded this album, I wanted to prove that you don't need a bunch of suits & their money to record a 1000% real deal pro quality Serious album! An album that is entirely about the craft of songwriting with depth & purpose, a hybrid mix of Rock with a funky, bluesy cool, painting each song in vibrant color, with tasty guitar style that is all about playing for the song, with genuine heart, soul and fire!
The lyrics are real life, I never candy coat, or sell out the power of the opportunity lyrically for sincerity, with something real and powerful to say. Life cn be overwhelming, and you can hear that in my writing, But... I always try and offer some positive takeaway, even when that can feel like a big challenge! That's real life.
Music helped me through a lot growing up, so writing songs with real meaning, depth, and purpose, focusing entirely from an artistic perspective of expression, is the only way I write! I used to tell my friends that the secret I found that has always worked for me is to just write & play what's real and that I really connect with, since creatively that can open up some powerful moments!
A lot of the stuff I write was to help me through stuff, like albums did when I was growing up.
Sometimes I just have to write and record an album to make it through & clear my head! If i can turn life's frustrations and situation I writ about, I make sure it offers some perspective that can be helpful to someone going through something similar! That is what art is for, at its highest purpose. To connect us, on a deep level, and to try and help each other through these days!
